Martin Halpin (Mandara)
Chiang Mai
Blending Reclaimed Wood & Florals With Art Resin Into Soulful Wall Pieces. Rooted in Chiang Mai. Inspired by Nature, Craft, and the Spirit of Wabi-Sabi.
MessageMartin Halpin is the founder and artist behind Mandara Furniture & Décor, a Chiang Mai–based studio crafting soulful wall art from reclaimed wood, preserved florals, and art resin. Originally from Australia, Martin has spent over two decades in Thailand, immersed in its language, craft traditions, and natural landscapes.
His journey began in furniture design and export, but over time evolved into a more expressive and intimate art practice — one that bridges sustainability, craftsmanship, and quiet storytelling. Drawing inspiration from Japanese philosophies like wabi-sabi and kintsugi, Martin’s work honors imperfection, transience, and the natural elegance of organic materials.
Each Mandara piece reflects his commitment to slow craft, environmental responsibility, and a deep reverence for nature’s forms. His work has been exhibited in galleries, luxury hotels, and design spaces, and continues to attract collectors drawn to its meditative aesthetic and meaningful process.
Statement
At Mandara, I blend reclaimed wood, salvaged timbers, preserved botanicals, and art resin into soulful, one-of-a-kind wall pieces. Each work is a quiet dialogue between nature and time — celebrating the raw textures of wood, the fleeting beauty of flowers, and the meditative clarity of resin.
Rooted in Chiang Mai, my practice draws from the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi — finding beauty in impermanence, simplicity, and organic imperfection. I aim to create work that feels timeless, grounded, and gently reflective — pieces that hold space, tell stories, and invite stillness.
Every Mandara piece is made slowly and intentionally. It is not just art for your walls, but a moment of still beauty captured in natural form.

Original Works in Reclaimed Wood, Art Resin, and Botanical Inlays
Each piece holds a story. We invite you to find yours.
Mandara Studio
Based in Chiang Mai, Mandara creates wall art that honors nature’s imperfections — capturing time, texture, and organic form through salvaged wood, hand-poured resin, and botanical inlays.
Inspired by the Wabi-Sabi philosophy and a deep reverence for the natural world, every panel is sculpted with intention — letting the grain, bloom, and bubble speak for themselves.
Art is in the patience of the process.
Each piece is made from salvaged timber, often marked by time and weather — and inlaid with real botanical elements preserved in crystal-clear resin. These works evoke a quiet sense of wonder, stillness, and connection to the natural world.
