Tangle is based on an experience of walking in Heathcote Park, on the outskirts of southern Sydney. This image is also a culmination of my many immersive nature experiences. I wanted to capture the dense tangle of vegetation and the abundance of smells and sounds of the natural world. With these large linoprints, I become fully engrossed in the carving process and I have a sense of not (counsciously) knowing where I'm going, the work flows out of me. I believe this experience of the “flow” state is what keeps artists making.
