This image combines an image of Heliconias on a table with a bold cloth. In the window there is a scene depicting a waterway bound by foilage. Heliconias are a relation of Birds of Paradise flowers, except they're more surreal !
They are very colourful and sculptural and make a fantastic still life subject.
This is a larger piece created on thick, quality, archival, black paper. I have created the background wall paper patterns and the window frame with a relief stamping technique and inserted part of my Hawthorn Canal print in the window space. I took the liberty of enlarging my favourite Mud vase for this piece and had a lot of fun greating patterns of the chest of drawers.
