Inspired by the regenerative cycles of growth and decomposition, I create abstract works on paper in collaboration with plants and fungi.
Message
Depicts Chervil (Anthiscus cerefolium), Echinacea (Echinacea purperea), Papyrus (Cyperus papyrus), and Wormwood (Artemisia absinthe), a non-indigenous plant that has naturalized throughout North America and is considered a “noxious invasive” (not my term) by several western states as it is a prolific producer of seeds, taints a cow’s milk, and reduces forage for grazers. Also depicted are many Arctic Terns (Sterna paradisaea), birds who make an annual circumpolar migration of up to 44,000 miles each year and can live 30 years
