- mushroom spores and gesso on Audubon book page
- 12 x 9 x 0 in (30.48 x 22.86 x 0.0 cm)
From a salvaged set of naturalist and artist John Audubon’s Birds of America, I cover Audubon’s work in black except for the birds. Over this, I place pressed plants and foraged mushrooms which release some of the spores contained in their gills. The powdery spores fall and mark the paper. The birds, some extinct, emerge in a new context.
