In 2011, I was fortunate enough to enjoy a one-month artist residency in Dinan, France. Dinan is a medieval city with cobbled streets and half-timber buildings. At first I was concerned that I wouldn't find landscape material to paint, and would have to paint those medieval dwellings. I should have had no fear. The landscape near my home was great inspiration for me, as I walked along the river almost every day. The experience was one of the best of my life, and painting the River Rance always transports me back to that time and place. Sigh.
