Chrysanthemum White was made using a technique known as "biscotti" where a quilt is made, and then cut up and rearranged. I wanted to create a positive/negative pair made from black on white, and white on black. After making this, I was stuck on how to best complete it with inspired quilting stitching on top. After visiting an exhibition by sculptor and artist, Ruth Asawa the SFMOMA, I became enamored with her drawings of flowers - especially chrysanthemum. I tried to emulate her beauty in the stitching.
