I was in Santa Fe in 2022 and my family saw this beautiful sky as the sun set behind Bishop's Peak. My husband asked if I would paint it, so I accepted the challenge. We have hiked Bishop's Peak a number of times. When painting this piece, I was struck by the brilliant sunset sky that transitions from soft pink and purple near the horizon. The painting focuses on capturing the light and atmosphere of the scene as the sun sets.
