Several years ago, I hosted a "Mardi Gras" themed dinner party. I bought some purple and green flowers to make flower arrangements for the party. The party was a lot of fun, and afterwards, I liked the flowers so much that I decided to paint a still life using some of them. This painting features an arrangement of purple and green flowers, along with a yellow teacup and a bottle of Chanel No. 5. As I painted this, and was trying to think of a title for the painting, the words "Handle With Care" came to me. The painting is of some flowers, a teacup and perfume, all of which are delicate objects. But this subject is also a reminder to all of us to take care of ourselves, and handle yourself with care.
