My intention, to spark personal recollections in the viewer, this one being Banff Ave on a day where there is very little happenings on the street! As a born and raised Calgarian, Banff was often a day trip, now that my Dad lives there, many visits. Most people dont get to experience the pause in the chaos of Banff but it does happen! Those quiet moments just seem to highlight the path on its way to the vastness of Cascade mountain.
I've painted many mountains, but with the addition of architecture I played with the contrast of nature vs manmade. The making of the mountains hard-edged, highlights of snow and creases with controlled lines, shapes and shadow then with the buildings being loose and unstructured, colours mutating into each other!
It has been said that Linnea's "Mountain paintings are so cleverly laconic "
