Sometimes, I've just gotta fool around with paints without knowing what I'm going to get. Such as this 9x12 watercolor: I wanted to see how much I could I glaze (glazing means applying layers of transparent color) and mainly, I wanted to see if I could give the feel of thick dust floating belly-deep in the corral. With those two goals in mind, I played around with these figures (too small for much detail, and the photo I took was blurred by so much dust I couldn't tell what was there anyway!) All the while, the title trotted around my brain, the first thought I'd had when I saw this scene of a kid sitting up straighter in his saddle as a long-haired little gal galloped up to join him: "His Favorite Roper"
Maybe I got it wrong. Maybe he hates her?
Nope. I don't think so-- I think she just cleared the dust and made his day.
