This 7" x 5" original oil cloudscape invites you to hitch a ride on sun-painted clouds. Heavily textured layers of color share an active interplay of light and shadow, as these drifting, churning clouds argue about which direction to go next, as the wind is forever changing on them and every point on the compass promises adventure.
Nature often mirrors our own emotions. I laid the brushwork as I contemplated an exciting opportunity; the calm blues, soothing violets and hot pinks followed, along with that sense of tranquility that comes with having made a decision as to which path to take. So the visibly dynamic brushwork captures not only the fleeting beauty of a sky in transition, but also the anticipation of an artist on the move.
So this small artwork doesn’t merely depict soft, pastel-colored clouds tossed about by fickle winds— it reflects my own ever-changing moods, and perhaps, your own. I invite you to pause long enough to leap onto a cloud and let it carry you away for a moment or two. Clouds are perfect for adding a touch of serenity to your space, even while promising to take you someplace you’ve never been.
Tip: Painted on archival Gessobord, small oil is suitable for display on a table easel or propped on a shelf, whether framed or unframed.
