custom conservation framed under museum glass
Texas sage blooms backdropped by the Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National Park. This painting was inspired by an October sunrise as we drove into the park from Marathon, Texas. The lilac and violet and fuchsia flowers, blossoming like crazy in one isolated spot in the desert were surprise gift enough, but then, the sun began illuminating the mountains and WOW. I jumped out of the truck and wound my way through the forest of fragrant sagebrush, snapping pictures wildly as the sun crept up.
I know I'm not supposed to apologize for bad photography, but in this case, no photos have done justice to the mystical light that shines out of this painting. This is one of my favs, and I worked hard to layer the different shades of blue until the painting captured the luminous quality of the Chisos at dawn.
