Summer heat fades into the cool of evening with a final burst of color. Red flowering ocotillo, with its spindly, thorn-lined stalks reaches ten to fifteen foot arms into the gap between mountains and sky as night falls on Pinto Canyon ranch lands between Marfa and the Rio Grande.
