When Cathedral Mountain, a ranch country landmark in Far West Texas, rises into a cloudy sky it takes on a mystical quality. This view of the mountain, which is between Alpine and Big Bend, came from a leisurely drive around the triangle made by Fort Davis, Alpine and Marfa. As a child, I used to delight in watching the Marfa lights from near this very pull-off. Now the lights appear less frequently, but Cathedral touches the west Texas sky every day.
