This hawk was out hunting the desert when a wall of cold appeared on the Big Bend horizon. He hung onto a yucca stalk and teetered in the wind, then dove for a mouse scurrying for cover in prickly pear. We raced to the truck, and by the time we were on pavement again, snowflakes were falling. I suspect the hawk had taken cover long before we did.
