Bouquets of these happy yellow flowers appear as random scatterings in the high country of the Far West Texas desert. No larger than a man's fist, they bloom in a tight profusion of petals going skyward in all directions. In painting this, I wanted to express that reckless abandon each stem uses as its growth pattern. Each is an individual, yet they stick close together like the hardy family they are.
