This delicate looking wildflower was one bloom on a tall, skinny stem of globe mallow waving in wind. Each of the many small flowers along the stalk matured at different times, so each held it's own version of color, some dark pinkish-lilac, some rosy, some almost white. This one. twisting and turning in the wind reminded me of young girl at her first dance, blushing with faint color as she realized others were watching, smiling as she wove in time to the music.
The specially coated board I painted this on gives this watercolor realistic texture, and a combination of pigments of varying transparencies brings the petals off the surface as if you were caressing this small flower.
