Elegy for Order is an acrylic painting with large, bold brush strokes, gestural movement and thick texture. This piece explores the tension between order and chaos.
Structure rises through a swirling current, unraveling into expressive, radiant disorder. The butterfly effect is a scientific theory which states that a small action like a butterfly flapping its wings could cause a domino effect of unpredictable events to unravel that could eventually lead to the formation of a hurricane. Think about a "the shot heard round the world," and how it changed history forever....and how that has affected me.
Or on the darker side...think about someone simply changing lanes only to lead to their death (and others) in a wreck on the highway.
Think about the chain of events that follow and all the people affected from that one small lane change.
POWERFUL.
My painting seeks to remind us that chaos can be hauntingly beautiful, and maximum goodness can come from the smallest actions we take. Even if you feel insignificant, what you do matters. Every choice, no matter how small, can shift the course of everything and lead to a better world.
