When I started painting this piece, my objective was to paint a place that would be peaceful and quiet. I wanted a place I would want to walk to and to just be. Just be. When I create a piece like this I am fulfilling a need not just for myself but for others who may not be able to visualize a peaceful, quiet destination. My inspiration for creating this peace is a beach area on the way to Pensacola, Florida from Mississippi. I remember these scenes quite well - both pre and post Katrina. I've recently updated this piece so that it can represent an area of North Carolina as it might look right after Hurricane Matthew. This abstract, contemporary, modern painting will provide some peaceful solitude in any room you choose to hang it. The painting is ready to hang, has a satin varnish covering all surfaces and the sides are painted a very dark brown to complement the colors in the art. It's ready to hang and ready to ship! A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany the artwork. This piece will be featured in my Durham Third Friday show October 21 with several other earth tone and metallic pieces.
