Whenever I see an abandoned house, it makes me wonder what its story is. Who built it, who lived there, what was their life like, why did they leave? I took this reference photo about 40 years ago, thinking at the time that it would make a cool painting. Since painting it recently, I found out that it actually used to be a schoolhouse in White County, Indiana, on S 300 Rd E, Monticello, but has since been torn down.
