'Magma' is the title of the painting that opens the “Earth's Heart” series, with which I invite viewers to reflect on the importance of the physicality of matter. Magma stems from a profound experience I had. It is not a work that I designed rationally, but one that “emerged” almost unconsciously upon my return from a short holiday on the Island of Elba.
On a beach with light-coloured sand, I noticed a black stone with ochre, red and golden spots, due to the presence of iron, which was abundant in that part of the island. Looking at those beautiful stones, with their dark colour and orange and golden accents, I imagined their history, emerging from the centre of the earth thousands of years ago thanks to the movements of the earth's crust. This is how the painting Magma was born. And the idea of giving the buyer one of the stones that inspired it.
