From April 1932 to the late 1950's, Blancherie Fréres manufactured hollow cast lead figures in Paris, France. The owners were Pierre (1890-1962) and Joseph (1897-1990) Blancherie, both from Meymac in the Corrèze and both Arts et Métiers engineers. Joseph was the artist responsible for the superb zoo series, some of whose models were inspired by Britains Ltd. Joseph, who lived in the workshop, ended his life with a huge stock of figurines, which were eventually put up for sale by his heirs in 1995
