A whimsical ongoing series of paintings celebrating the quiet presence of everyday fruit and vegetables. These small works explore colour, form, and character through close observation of familiar kitchen subjects.
Hyde Park Series 2025
Hyde Park is a series of paintings developed over more than a year of weekly visits to paint and draw en plein air, observing the park’s seasonal changes and the effects of the polyphagous shot-hole borer on its landscape. The works honour Hyde Park’s beauty, history and role as an urban wildlife sanctuary, while acknowledging its ecological vulnerability and importance to the local community.
Seeds Series
In this ongoing series I depict the humble seed as a metaphor for living potential — something easily overlooked or underestimated, yet fundamentally powerful because it contains the capacity for growth, renewal, and the continuity of life.
Transient Grace
In this body of work, created in response to the theme “Transient Grace,” I explored the ephemeral nature of sunlight and its power to illuminate the inherent beauty of the everyday. I understand “transient” as ephemeral and passing, and “grace” as a gift of elevated awareness that is momentarily and unexpectedly bestowed, leaving gratitude and quiet wonder in its wake. Working primarily with objects from nature, some of which I encountered while travelling in Europe, I arranged and photographed still-life compositions to study their relationships in changing light. From these studies, I developed layered paintings built through translucent applications of paint, allowing complex textures and elusive qualities of light and shadow to emerge.
