Northwinds - I have a great source for my buffalo skulls. My father-in-law ran into Hannibal at a gun show and purchased me my first buffalo skull (The Plumber) from this traveling trade show vendor. About a year later, I pulled out my Hannibal Enterprises business card and gave the guy a call. Turns out, he lives within a short drive from my home and has a whole warehouse full of treasures!
What a character and what a gift to have him open up his warehouse for me to explore. Turns out, he sells most of his buffalo skulls to the infamous Wall Drug. He buys them from a buffalo farm, and all of the large skulls I have purchased from him have been 9-10 year old herd bulls. Hannibal says you can tell the age of the buffalo from the crack in the skull down the center of the nose. This crack only starts to separate after they reach maturity.
The Northwinds carving was a treasure from an antiques store. I loved the intricacies of the carving and knew it would be a perfect focal point for a creation.
Many of the unique beads were purchased at Beadweaver in Santa Fe, NM. The feather spines are genuine porcupine quills and the patches are made from cow suede.
This skull includes a custom made Hannibal Special skull hanger for secure wall mounting.
