Exploding Seed Pods is an original cyanotype on archival watercolor paper. The flowers from my Colorado garden have turned into seed pods. The seeds exploded outward when I pressed the pods under glass during printing. I love the dynamic energy of these hundreds of little seeds in motion.
Cyanotypes are one of photography’s oldest printing processes. Its print’s distinctive feature is its cyan blue shade, which results from its exposure to ultraviolet light. I used plants from my garden to block the UV rays and create unique, botanical silhouettes.
