Colorado Alpine Flower Three is an original cyanotype on archival watercolor paper. These hardy perennials grow in my Colorado high alpine garden. I love them for their cone-shaped flowers that turn into hundreds of little seeds at the season’s end. The deer hate them, so they don’t eat them either, another plus!
Cyanotypes are one of photography’s oldest printing processes. Its prints' distinctive feature is its cyan blue shade, which results from its exposure to ultraviolet light. I used plants from my garden to block the UV rays and create unique, botanical silhouettes.
