Temporal Perspectivism is the potentially distorted view as one looks back or remembers past events through the filter of current life knowledge and experiences. It is more commonly known in the research fields of anthropology and archaeology and implies that there is no single objective truth but rather multiple perspectives that depend on the context and the time.
My artwork depicts vague, fuzzy edges and colours indicating the uncertain nature of what we discover and the view that, given our interpretation is based on our own current view of the world, we cannot know for certain how past time periods were viewed by the people living through them. An analogy could be that we cannot fully understand or judge others unless we live their lives.
The artwork is unframed however it is painted on the sides so framing is not required. It is signed on the back, comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and will be registered on the National Registry of Australian Art and Artists. Images showing framing are indicative only.
