I grew up just north of Brisbane, and while I’ve travelled extensively and lived overseas, returning here always feels like grounding myself again. This painting was inspired by that moment of arrival—flying back into Brisbane after recent travels, watching the land come into view from the plane window and cameras and thinking this is it - Coming Home.
Through colour and form, I’ve tried to express my connection to place: the sense of returning, of belonging, of being part of this Country. It’s both personal and collective—a reflection of my own story and a celebration of Brisbane’s natural beauty in pre-colonial days. The brushstrokes are expressive, the layout intuitive—it's not meant to be exact, just a feeling.
The artwork is framed in American Ash with d-rings and wire ready to hang.
