Theodate Pope Riddle was an American architect and suffragist who became a hero for her pioneering work in the male-dominated fields of architecture and design, as well as her advocacy for women's rights.
Riddle was the first licensed female architect in Connecticut and designed several notable buildings, including her own home, Hill-Stead Museum. She also played a key role in the development of the Avon Old Farms School, which was one of the first schools in the country to provide equal opportunities for girls and boys.
In addition to her architectural work, Riddle was a passionate advocate for women's suffrage and worked tirelessly to secure the right to vote for women.
