Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and she is the only person to have won two Nobel Prizes in different scientific fields (chemistry and physics). Her research on radioactivity led to the discovery of two elements, polonium and radium, and her work paved the way for advances in medical treatments and nuclear energy.
Despite facing discrimination and obstacles as a woman in science, Curie remained dedicated to her work and was a tireless advocate for scientific research and education. She was the first female professor at the University of Paris and founded the Curie Institute to further research on radioactivity.
