In this painting, the wolf looks back with wisdom of leadership and survival to followers of her pack. In the creation of 'The Sage' -Wolf, I carefully washed color around the shape of the wolf, leaving areas of her white coat untouched. I thought of the life of the wolf and its history of persecution and how the wolf must be both seen and unseen.
