"Jasmine Night" is a riff on The Kabuki dancers of Japan whose avant-garde performances portray a flamboyance that this woman clearly emits. Kabuki means "being out of the ordinary" - which she certainly is. She wears a vibrant blue heron like a headdress with a wing that cascades down along her face, caressing, protecting. She is a study on dramatic contrast. Her deep, expressive eyes and defined lips and rosy cheeks stand out against her pale complexion.
I find my painting style typically tends toward seeking the connection between earth and the etherial. Boundaries are blurred for impact to suggest my woman's place in time is undulating. She is emotional and romantic, ornamental and symbolic. See if you can find the hidden silhouette I've include for my viewer to discover.
