"Fluttershy" speaks to the courage required for transformation. It speaks to the moment before we open ourselves to the light. When we stand "poised" between who we are and what we will become. The woman emerges from shadow. She's shy. Her face is delicately hidden by her platinum hair, catching the light. Her hair choice says she's not afraid of risk. The scene communicates freedom, discovery and transformation. Yet, she hides her face. Is she ready to reveal herself?
This painting pulses with ENERGY; The composition suggests a metamorphosis is taking place. Something I tend to reveal in my work. It reflects a soul caught between earthly darkness and the luminous possibility of flight. Her figure, rendered in expressive brushstrokes seems both grounded and ready to ascend. The birds are extensions of herself. Are the birds and bees messengers, companions or fragments of her own becoming? In hesitation.
