This painting turned out to be a beautiful rendition of my niece Alyssa. As I was painting her, she revealed herself as the strong and beautiful girl I am familiar with. Particularly, the attitudinal position of her frame. She embodies the right attitude for her reign on this earth. Who she is and what she's earned in her life show clearly through her expression and her comfort with her totem, the wolf. Her presence nurtures; she's helpful, loving and you know that she will protect you at every cost. Because you are family or friend. Because you are in need. Her relationship with her totem, the wolf, illustrates her primal bond with the natural world that transcends domestication and civilization.  The wolf serves not as a pet or symbol, but a mirror - reflecting the untamed wisdom that lives inside of Alyssa. Together, they embody strength, intuition, and the fierce grace of those who refuse to be separated from their wildest desires and truths.
