"Island Lea" depicts the lush lea lands rolling across Prince Edward Island. My childhood included much time spent at Lealand farm, the homestead where my father was born and raised in Victoria, PEI. The name Lealand came from the farm's origins. Having been established by John C. Lea in the early 1800's, John's granddaughter then married a Boswell who had bought the farm. My first name is spelled to reflect my ancestral connection to the Lea family.
The composition of this piece was inspired by a photo taken by PEI filmmaker John Hopkins.
