Peter Jooren, born in The Netherlands, was a Dutch painter whose work encompassed various styles and genres. He completed his studies at the Art Academy in Rotterdam during the mid-1960s. Throughout his life and career, he had a profound passion for painting and experimenting with diverse techniques and subjects. Initially inspired by late 19th-century Dutch painters like Israëls and Maris, he later focused on surrealism, sci-fi landscapes, still life, and impressionistic portraits.
His travels expanded his perspectives and impacted his later creations. Peter’s artistic journey demonstrates his relentless curiosity and aspiration to continuously evolve as an artist. He created a varied body of work that reflects his explorations across technique, style, and subject matter throughout his lifetime.
His portraits capture expressions that deeply resonate with viewers, while his surreal compositions provoke intrigue regarding their origin. THE JOURNEY BEHIND THE STUDIO
In 2016, I lost my father, Peter Jooren. Before his passing, he expressed his concerns about the responsibility of managing his life's work falling on my family. Recognizing the significance of his collection I assured him his art was not a burden and I promised him we would take care of his work and preserve it for future generations.
With the support of my family, we began the careful process of cataloging, preserving, and understanding his work - slowly uncovering the story of his artistic evolution. It has been a journey of love, learning, and rediscovery.
Jooren Studio exists to preserve, celebrate, and share Peter's legacy with the world. An extraordinary artist whose vision endures through his remarkable collection of oil paintings and acrylics. Through meticulous archiving, the release of limited edition prints, the curation of future exhibitions and the hope of future publications, we aim to make his work accessible to new audiences.
Each print sold directly supports our mission to archive, document and protect the full body of Peter Jooren's life's work- a collection that spans decades of emotions, experimentation, and storytelling through paint.
This work keeps me connected to my father and it allows me to share a piece of him with my daughter. His passion continues to guide us as we honor his memory and ensure his artistic vision inspires generations to come.
