Oil on linen, my first painting for 2020.
Part of my Monoliths series dealing with imagery inspired by Neolithic sites used as metaphors for mental illness symptoms. Here the emotional experiences of single parents and their children are examined from the viewpoint of those involved. It shows just how fragile and overwhelming life can be for these families, who have my deepest respect. My mom was widowed when I was seven years old in the early 1970's when there was no support for single moms, just judgement.
