This gorgeous view of a valley in the Pocono mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania during late spring is from a photo I took during a family trip. It's that transition time of spring's awakening into early summer's lushness. Not everything has gone into full foliage yet, but you can feel the energy rising.
My biggest challenge here was to capture the effect of looking down from the ridgetop towards the valley below.
I look for what the Earth wants us to hear and see by searching for unseen experiences or a sense of place. My goal is to help people bridge that gap between conscious and unconscious awareness of our connection with nature.
It is pastel on Ampersand Pastelbord panel, 16" x 12", currently framed for the upcoming Pittsburgh Pastel Artists League 2024 Annual Members Exhibition "Rendering Radiance" at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Ligonier, PA.
