"Her Steady Horizon - Sea V2" is the third in a triptych (Shore, Surf, Sea) depicting a 1950s woman, fully dressed, slowing walking into the ocean.
The first two of my the triptych are based on a series of haunting and beautiful photographs printed from found negatives of unknown origin. (The Instagram hashtag #findthegirlsinthenegative was created in an effort to find who the women and photographer are.)
I composed the third image to complete the journey of this woman walking from the shore out into the ocean, always headed towards the horizon, and we get closer to her the further she goes, not knowing if she ever turns back. To me, it spoke to the feminist's journey: moving, changing, not always hopeful, but looking forward.
