Jessica Monroe Fine Art

Laguna Madre Series

The Laguna Madre Series is inspired by Jessica Monroe’s experiences as a South Texas native and her residency on a remote spoil island in the hypersaline Laguna Madre—one of the most unique coastal ecosystems in the world.

Created through direct observation, field sketches, and reflective studio practice, the works trace the quiet rhythms of the Gulf environment: birds in flight, rippling light, the stillness between tides. Each painting embodies the artist’s meditative approach to seeing and listening—expressing the unity between movement, stillness, and the living landscape that defines the South Texas coast.

Meditations on Paper

The Meditations on Paper series grows from Jessica Monroe’s drawing practice—rooted in quiet attention and observation. These graphite and ink works are created both in the field and in moments of reflection in the studio. Each piece becomes an act of listening: to light, to movement, to the living rhythm that runs through all things. They offer viewers a space of stillness and connection, a contemplative entry point into the larger body of work.

Signature Series

The Signature Series bridges original painting and fine-art printmaking in a way that’s entirely Jessica Monroe’s own. Each piece begins as an archival print of an original painting and is then brought back into the studio, where the artist paints over it extensively in oils and acrylics—layering color, light, and texture until the surface once again becomes a unique, hand-crafted work.

These painterly hybrids are more accessible than full oil paintings yet retain the depth, energy, and individuality of originals. Each is signed and marked with a Roman numeral to denote its place in the evolving collection, not as a fixed limited edition but as a continuum of living works that carry Monroe’s touch.

South Texas Wild

The South Texas Wild series celebrates the vibrant life of the Rio Grande Valley and Gulf Coast—its birds, plants, and shifting light. Painted from field studies and observation, these works honor the region’s ecological richness while revealing deeper connections between land, life, and spirit.

Through layered oils on linen and birch, Jessica Monroe translates quiet moments in nature into luminous meditations on balance and belonging. The series began as a love letter to her home landscape and has since become a cornerstone of her practice and her permanent installation at Quinta Mazatlán World Birding Center, inspiring viewers to see the sacred in the everyday rhythms of the natural world.

Studio Series

The Studio Series offers a glimpse into Jessica Monroe’s creative process—moments of experimentation, curiosity, and play that often lead to larger bodies of work. These small-scale originals, studies, and mixed-media pieces are expressions of freedom and discovery. Though not tied to a single series, each work carries the same attentiveness and craftsmanship that define Monroe’s practice: connection to nature, material sensitivity, and a spirit of exploration.
