In the summer of 2025, I traveled to Galicia, Spain, to explore questions of roots, ancestry, and identity. Guided by family oral histories that suggest my maternal grandmother’s family originated in this region, I spent time walking, observing, and getting to know the landscape and the people who call it home.

The works in this collection are meditation paintings created during that initial visit. Made through sustained attention and direct engagement with place, they serve as both records of observation and reflections on connection, memory, and belonging.

This is an ongoing project that continues to evolve through repeated visits and a deepening relationship with Galicia’s landscapes, histories, and communities.
