A Corner Turned (The Rose) 9 x 12 pastel Uart 400 Grit 8 Ply Board
Walking
Fingers jammed in pockets
Thumbs locked on blue jean loops
Overhead a crow is passing, calling
Wind ripples my jacket
Rain whispers, falling
Steps upon wet pavement
Reach my ear
Breaking somber silence
Diamonds forever luster, lost
Children’s laughter fading
Three geese feast
On outfield grass
Watchful
I don’t interrupt
Their grazing
In the distant depths of thought
I find the silent echo of voices
Of long-ago friends
Times shared, connection lost, different lives
As each breath exhales
They are once again
Off wandering
Strolling the streets of Saugus
I walk through photographs
Of things no longer mine
A Corner turned
Lenox Ave
Appeared a Rose
Heading home
Tomorrow
