Material Bloom: Wild Scatter by Jeanne M. Connolly is a sculptural textile work created from reclaimed zero-waste fabrics, tufted into burlap to form an energetic field of color and movement.
In this composition, vibrant bursts of hot pink, saffron yellow, coral, turquoise, and deep indigo expand outward across the surface like petals carried by wind. Translucent mesh fabrics, ribbons, and soft fiber fragments fold and curl into layered clusters that feel spontaneous and alive.
Unlike the concentrated density of Material Bloom: Dense Field or the upward unfolding of Material Bloom: Garden Rise, this work introduces a sense of release. Fabric fragments extend outward in multiple directions, creating a dynamic surface where color and texture appear to scatter beyond the boundaries of the central composition.
Each reclaimed textile retains its natural character—sheer synthetics shimmer beside matte cottons and flexible fibers—allowing light and shadow to activate the sculptural terrain. The result is a composition that feels both botanical and atmospheric, suggesting blossoms caught mid-movement.
Mounted within a natural wood frame, Material Bloom: Wild Scatter celebrates the transformation of discarded materials into a vibrant abstract ecosystem where abundance, movement, and material memory converge.
