MessageJeanne M. Connolly is a contemporary artist based in Dénia, Spain, creating dimensional abstract works that bring together painting, textile processes, and sculptural structure. Working with layered materials, hand-painted surfaces, stitched fibers, and reclaimed textiles, she explores the relationship between color, texture, and relief. Inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, organic growth patterns, and the flora of Spain, her work moves between painting, drawing, and textile sculpture, transforming thread and fabric into expressive, tactile compositions.

Artist Statement — Jeanne M. Connolly
My work is a tactile exploration of memory, impermanence, and place. Rooted in the textures of Mediterranean life, I create layered, dimensional compositions using hand-painted textiles, vintage fabrics, and reclaimed materials. These works emerge from a dialogue between painting and textile—where pigment, thread, and structure converge to form surfaces that extend beyond the flat plane.
Based in Dénia, I draw continual inspiration from the coastal landscape, Spanish flora, and the quiet rhythms of traditional craft. My process is guided by curiosity—toward a forgotten fabric, a fleeting bloom, or a fragment of material history waiting to be reimagined. Working intuitively, I allow color, texture, and form to lead, embracing irregularities as part of the work’s visual language.
At the core of my practice is a belief in slowness and attention—in honoring materials that have lived a previous life. Through layering, stitching, and reconstruction, I seek to create works that feel both grounded and evolving. Each piece invites a moment of pause, offering space to reconnect with the tactile, the natural, and the poetic nuances of everyday experience.
