To create this painting, I purchased handmade bark paper in Paris because of its lovely texture even though it was quite dark. Creating a composition that would work with the grain of this paper is what led to its success. Using acrylic thinly as watercolor enabled me to slowly build the layers without covering the bark paper except in the sky, which gives the eye a place to rest amongst the dark shapes. 'Paris Steet Shadows' was accepted into the 2015 Southern Watercolor Society’s annual exhibition; received the Winsor Newton Merchandise Award
