It is fairly peaceful to sit on a Tuscan villa patio in Cortona, Italy, watching the sun go down while sipping a glass of Chianti. I was doing just that while teaching a painting workshop in Tuscany. Suddenly, the sky turned a warm yellow creating a reddish glow on the trees yet leaving the foreground a cool blueish-purple. Capturing the fleeting moment is what this painting is about.
