The architecture in Normandy, France has been retained and well preserved as in this cottage of Manoir d'Argences. Old World architecture is a favorite theme of my paintings; these Norman cottages offer an insight to the country lifestyle. The aged textures and the draping foliage on the wall invite the viewer to want to see what is beyond the wall. To begin this painting, I created texture over the entire canvas and used it as a textural background while developing the painting; it was followed with many more glazed layers.
