“Between Tides” continues my series about the journey of life—how we move, pause, and move again through different parts of our days and years. Painted on the Maine coast, where the sea rises and falls dramatically, this work lingers in the in‑between: a yellow boat resting on the ocean floor, lines taut to the pilings, time slowed to the rhythm of the tide.
Low water reveals truths we don’t always see—textures of clay and salt, scuffs on a working hull, the quiet work of waiting. This pause is not an ending but a necessary chapter of the voyage: a place to steady, mend, and gather ourselves. The blue channel that threads through the mudflats points outward, carrying the eye toward open water and brighter horizons. Even in the overcast light, that blue suggests promise—the certainty that the tide will return and lift us.
In this piece, the grounded boat becomes a living metaphor: held for a moment between departure and arrival, present and future. “Between Tides” honors the patience inside every journey and the quiet faith that, when the water turns, we rise.
