2024-2025 Foundation Student Art Award Winner. The following is the student's artist statement:
The definition of art can be subjective, varying among individuals and cultures. I want my work to evoke emotion and convey a meaningful message for both the viewer and myself. Most of my work is inspired by my own emotions and films. I began creating art because it has always been a part of who I am. Sometimes I become so deeply involved in my work that it feels obsessive and incredibly intense; other times, it’s less so. However, there is hardly a day when I do nothing related to art. For me, art is much more than just a habit. I feel compelled to paint because the physical act of creating brings me joy. When I create, my goal is to use different materials and art mediums to explore color, form, texture, and emotion. My overall work focuses on how I grew up, and how I hold on to my emotions, my work shows who I am not just as an artist but as a human being and guides me to find my purpose.
